Folklore refers to the traditional stories, legends, myths, folk songs, folk tales, proverbs, riddles and customs that are passed from one generation to another through oral tradition. Long before the creation of Pakistan, every region preserved its history, values and cultural identity through folklore. Famous folk romances such as Heer Ranjha, Sassi Punnun, Sohni Mahiwal and Mirza Sahiban reflect the social values, traditions and emotions of the people. Folklore continues to strengthen Pakistan's cultural diversity by preserving regional languages, customs and historical experiences.

Drama developed as an important literary and performing art that presents social, cultural and historical themes through dialogue and acting. Traditional folk theatre existed in different regions before independence, while modern Urdu and regional dramas expanded after the creation of Pakistan through radio, stage performances and later television. Institutions such as Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television (PTV) played a significant role in promoting drama across the country. Pakistani dramas often highlight social issues, moral values, family relationships, patriotism and national identity, making them an important part of Pakistan's literary history and cultural development.
